Staff Training Days

With such a large team and like other workplaces, we endeavour to hold training days for the benefit of our staff. Training is usually held on Wednesday afternoon when the surgery is closed his means that the surgery may occasionally be closed in an afternoon.

On these afternoons all calls will be diverted to Derbyshire Health United. There may be an occasion where the surgery will answer the call but we will only be able to deal with emergency calls during this time. Routine matters would need to wait until the surgery re-opens.

Our team includes six GPs, two Nurse Practitioners, three Practice Nurses, as well as our reception, admin and management staff. We offer a full general practice service and run specialist clinics for children and pregnant women, diabetes and heart disease and for patient’s needing minor surgery.

Dr M Jones (male)

MB ChB (Liverpool 1973)
Dr Jones has been with the practice since 1975. He offers a full range of general practice care to his patients and has a special interest in Orthopaedics.

Dr A Wordley (male)

MB BS (London 1979)
Dr Wordley has been with the practice since 1980. He offers a full range of general practice care to his patients.

Dr S Newport (female)

BM BS (Nottingham 1980), BMedSci MRCGP
Dr Newport has been with the practice since 1985. As well as a full range of general practice care, she has a special interest in Diabetes and mental health.

Dr M Wong (male)

MB ChB (Manchester 1991), DRCOG, MRCGP, DFSRH
Dr Wong has been with the practice since 1995. He offers a full range of general practice care and has a special interest in Diabetes. His other specialist subject is the practice clinical computer system (EMIS).

Dr M Small (male)

MB ChB (Leicester 1992), DFSRH
Dr Small has been with the practice since 1999. He offers a full range of general practice care. He has a special interest in Respiratory medicine, Rheumatology/Joint injection and Palliative medicine. Dr Small is also the practice intranet, Internet and web site guru.

Dr J Horton (female)

BM BS, BMedSci, DRCOG, MRCGP, DFSRH
Dr Horton has been with the practice since 2001. She offers a full range of general practice care and has a specialist interest in Paediatrics, women’s health and Autism.

Dr E Ross (male)

MBChB, MRCGP, DGM, DFSRH
Dr Ross joined the practice in 2007. He offers a full range of General Medical Services.
