Dr Wong Wins Award for Outstanding Health Care 7 June, 10:42 PM

Dr Wong and team have recently been announced as Derbyshire County winners of The NHS East Midlands Award for Outstanding Health Care. NHS East Midlands launched the awards to give local people the chance to say thank you to the NHS staff who changed their life.

Dr Wong has made the following statement in response to receiving the award:

I am absolutely honoured to have received this award in the course of my normal
everyday duties at work – in general practice we always try our best to provide high
quality care and it is heartening to know that our patients appreciate this.

Of course, I could not have done this without the support of the tremendous team
here at Ivy Grove Surgery, all of whom are extremely proud of the fact that the
surgery’s hard work has been recognised.

I extend my thanks to our patients and all of our staff for making it so worthwhile.
The surgery will be looking to invest the prize money to further improve services for
the benefit of patients.

Whilst this is a slight improvement on the figures for March, it still equates to a lot of wasted doctor and nurse time. If we assume at each appointment is for ten minutes (many appointments with the nurses are actually for much longer periods) this equates to fifteen and a half hours of doctor/nurse time wasted. This is the equivalent of having an extra doctor or nurse in surgery every afternoon for a whole week.

Whilst we appreciated that for many reaons you might not be able to attend your appointment, we are often able to fill appointments at very short notice. If you cannot attend, please let us know.
